{NEW YORK}… photo sessions!

I am going to New York for a loooong Labor Day Weekend April 27 – May 3…. (then off to San Diego for a week ~ YES YES YES!!!)

Here’s the NEW YORK photo session scoop: One of my favorite families, from Houston~Texas, is flying to New York and we are meeting there to have a photo session in New York on April 29th. (…Can’t wait to see you & you know who you are… & see how much your little girl has grown from last year’s photo shoot in Rome).

So…I am opening up a few photo sessions in New York from April 30- May 2. The photo shoot can either be in the comfort of your home, around New York or even Central Park ~ you choose your favorite location. The photo shoot is available for all sessions: engagement, children, family or individual portrait session.

Me… photographed by my Intern Tori

Well, here I am behind the camera, modeling for Tori. We took turns, I photographed her giving her pointers, then she photographed me following along.

I like Tori’s eye for composition. I guess after all your mom is an artist~painter, which helps:)

Today we did some post-editing also with my 2nd Intern Alex from Emory. We sat in Trastevere, at Friends with our Laptops, cameras, photoshop & below are some of the images we came up with… It was fun!

Tori has the Canon EOS D1000 & was using a 18-55mm lens.

I really was on the phone here ~ not a prop! Wonder who I was chatting with:)

I love the composition in this one… (iso 320. f-5.6 ~ 1/50)

It was actually sprinkling and the weather was hard to shoot in but I did buy an umbrella & we got a good one-hour session in there.

Constructive critique:for lens set-up I would have opened he aperture up so that the F-stop was not less than 1/60 and the iso would have been lower i.e. more sharp with more details.

My big little … {Dante}

Meet my adorable 12 year old son going on 30…

He is turning 13 in September and has always, like the rest of my sons, been a great model & inspiration for me. I have photographed him so much that the lab I go to says he must be the most photographed child in the world! LOL!

Having two older boys in College, I know that soon my little Dante’s voice will go deeper, grow taller and enter a new stage of life. Another milestone.

I love these series of pictures we took at a park one sunny weekend where is is still my little one…

Meet Tori my new intern…. {FIRST LESSON}

Tori is taking an abroad semester in Rome from Wofford College in South Carolina & is also interning with me. She is so eager to learn & I hope to transmit my passion for photography to her.

Well, our first lesson was to learn and feel what it is like to be behind the camera & to enable her to emphasize with whoever she photographs, to see hands-on how to interact with clients and also learn my approach to photographing people.

We alternated, I photographed her and then I modeled for her where she would apply the techniques.

For our next lesson, we will focus on workflow & post-editing. We will be editing the pictures she took of me… {GEEK!!!}

Rome & Florence ~ Spring mini sessions

Yes, the weather is warming up, the mimosa’s are in full bloom, the peach trees are starting to blossom ~ spring is right around the corner ~ one of my favorite times of the year to take photographs!

Back to the news, I will be holding spring mini-sessions on March 20th & March 24th in Rome and on April 3rd & 4th in Florence.

I will be scheduling 45 min time slots, up to 6 sessions available per day. They will be held at historical locations around Rome & Florence. Since these sessions will be a bit shorter, the spring mini~ session fee will be E. 150 for 1-3 people (children & adults), you will have 1 Art Print (8×12in or 20×30cm), 20-25 images in a private online gallery for viewing & ordering within 2-3 weeks. All studio products are available for purchase, including prints, vintage paintings, albums & more.
